Jahna Vashti knew she would be a professional artist from the beginning. Growing up surrounded by a supportive and creative family, she spent most of her childhood coloring and creating art. In 1999 she found herself in Portland and fell in love with the city. Jahna planted her roots here and began to grow her family. The birth of her first child inspired her to cultivate in herself the qualities she wanted to foster in her son. This put her on the path to reawakening her inner artist.

Having had no formal training, Jahna worked hard to learn to trust herself and her imagination, and to realize that her visual language of beauty, fun and joy would speak to other people as well. Jahna started selling her work in 2011 at local art fairs, as well as opening her Etsy shop. Her Portland workspace is named "The Bear Noir Studio", where she continues to expand her wonderful body of work.

Her imagery is imbued with a charming sense of whimsy and a natural gift for color and composition. Fantastical imagery and sweet sentiment combine to create memorable, delightful art. Stop in at Branches to see our collection of Jahna's cards in person, and support the lovely work of this local Portland artist.
